Project Manager & In-house Translator, Germany
Hello World. 😊
I’ve been part of the Native Prime / t-recs family since 2017. I first joined as a project manager and worked on the localization of game guide books—back when those were still a thing! Bit by bit, I found myself diving deeper into the world of game translation, and I haven’t looked back.
I studied literature, linguistics and philosophy and have a background in journalism, working for movie productions and as a freelance copywriter as well as an author. Basically, my life has always revolved around words—and how we shape them. What do I love most about translation? Two things:
I very much enjoy the puzzle solving aspect of translations and I love working with my colleagues. The process of discussing details with my project managers and my proofreaders and doing little brainstorming sessions to get to the best results – this is fun.
And then the 8-year-old gamer in me still can’t believe this is my job. You wake up one day and you work on the sequel, prequel, remake of a game you loved playing all those years ago. Being part of such a project is truly an incredible feeling.
Now, if there’s one thing that drives me a bit nuts—it’s lack of context. Then you are trapped between the self-doubts on your interpretation and the need for an answer (sometimes urgent) from someone who is knee-deep in the project. 😊
As a gamer and a movie lover, don’t ask me to pick just one favorite. Best I can do are incomplete lists. 😉
🎬 Films I keep coming back to:
Blade Runner (& 2049 :D), Children of Men, Big Fish, Collateral and basically anything James Cameron touches.🕹️ Games that shaped me:
Indiana Jones 3, Monkey Island, FLOOD (Atari ST), DOOM, Iron Soldier, Alien vs. Predator (Atari Jaguar), Ninja Gaiden Black, Halo (XBOX), Bioshock, Gears of War, Dark Souls, Limbo (Xbox 360), Bloodborne, Inside, Dead Cells, Carrion, Neva …
(Yes, it’s a neverending list. I regret nothing.) 😄
This was awesome! Bye-bye!
