Meet the Team: Fanny Guédez
June 19, 2025
Hi, I’m Fanny, a French localisation project manager at Native Prime — and a translator whenever I can! 🇫🇷 I’ve been with the company for almost two years now.
Unsurprisingly, I’ve always been attracted to languages. Back in high school, I wasn’t very involved, but a great English teacher changed that and made language learning fun. ✨
Though I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do at first, I ended up studying languages and civilisations, then did academic research on comic book adaptations (with The Walking Dead as a subject, because yes, that is a kind of research you can do nowadays!)
Later, I completed a master’s in the book industry and worked as a bookseller specialising in comics, bandes dessinées and manga. It was great to share my passion and read lots of books, but I wanted something more intellectually challenging. 📖
Right before the pandemic hit, I decided to switch paths and went back to university for a second master’s in translation. After a 6-month internship at Native Prime, I was lucky enough to join the team as a Junior Project Manager.
Now, as a localisation PM, challenges are daily — but managing projects with over 20 languages is definitely the toughest. These projects can be pretty complex to manage, as they require such careful coordination.
Translating dialogues for voice over is another pretty challenging type of project. Considering time constraints and sometimes even lip-sync is vital — and it’s never easy. 🎙️🗣️
I was fortunate to take part in the recording sessions for The Plucky Squire and work closely with our partners at Devolver, making sure lines were clear and pronounceable. Those projects demand extra attention at every step.
On a lighter note, the best concert I’ve been to was Tool at Hellfest Festival in 2019. 🤘 It’s hard to describe or explain why. Even though the sound was crap, the experience itself was mind blowing — lights, visuals, stage show — everything was impressive.
I discovered the band pretty late, thanks to my partner, and didn’t think I’d ever see them live — especially in France — so it truly was a special, unexpected experience.
Thank you for reading!
